Creating stencils with a hand stencil machine

A hand-held stencil machine is used to manually create custom stencils from oilboard (oilboard = a special cardboard impregnated with paraffin oil). Precisely placed characters can be cleanly punched out. The stencil can be transferred to the product or packaging using a fountain roller, fountain brush, or marking spray. Oilboard stencils are primarily used for marking plastic, cardboard, metal boxes, wooden boxes, and containers. The hand-held punches are available in various font heights of 6 mm, 12.5 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm.

Preparation: Insert oil cardboard template

First, the oil cardboard must be inserted:

1. Move the release lever to the right. This action swings the lower paper transport downward, creating the necessary clearance for inserting the oilboard.

2. Position the oilboard so that its left edge overlaps the centering line and align the bottom edge of the oilboard to the desired guide edge. The left edge of the oilboard can be aligned to the left vertical guide edge. If you want a greater distance from the left edge, you can align the left edge of the oilboard to one of the centering lines.

3. Once the stencil is in the correct position, press the locking button. The release lever will automatically return to its original position, and the lower paper transport will pivot upward, holding the stencil in place.

To punch characters, proceed as follows:

1. Move the handwheel and set the pointer to the desired character.

2. When the pointer is positioned on the desired character, press the handle down. The letter will be punched out and the stencil will advance one character.

3. To leave a space, press the space button located on the front of the handle while pushing the handle down.

4. When a line of punched characters is complete, push the release lever to the right to move the lower paper transport down again and thus release the stencil.

5. Slide the oilboard to the start position and align the bottom edge of the oilboard with a suitable guide edge.

This allows you to create a text or a sequence of numbers for marking. Once the text is completely punched, you take the stencil, place it on the surface to be marked, and either spray the text with a marking spray or roll it over the stencil with a fountain roller.
